At the South Pole , there are a lot of penguins. Penguins are a kind of birds, but they can’t fly like other birds. They can live in the sea and on the land. They do well in swimming. Their favorite food is shrimps. Sometimes they also catch some little fish. Penguins are always living together.
We all know it is very cold at the South Pole .The lowest temperature is nearly minus ninety degrees. Why can penguins live in such cold weather? Because they have thick fat . Their feather can stop cold air, too. The temperature of a penguin’s body is always about 37degrees. And sometimes the temperature of its feet is lower.

? ?Many people are afraid of quicksand , in the films, people fall into quicksand. They are pulled down and down, They disappear! No one sees them again!
?? What is quicksand? Can it really pull things down ? No, it cannot. Quicksand cannot pull things into it. Quicksand is really loose sand and a lot of water. The water makes the quicksand . It is different from the sand on the beach. A person can walk on the beach. A person cannot walk on quicksand . It is too loose.
Falling into quicksand does not hurt. It is almost like falling into water! Your body will go down, but then it will come up. People can float in quicksand , but they must not fight the sand. That? would make them go down. They should move slowly until they float .?
Quicksand is found in many places. It is found near the mouths of large rivers. The mouth of a river is where the river meets the ocean or the sea. Quicksand is also found on land. In some places the water stays on the land. I t does not drain or dry up . If there is sand around, the sand gets very wet. Then it becomes quicksand .
Will you go down in quicksand? Yes, but not all the way. You will float. But you should float in clean water. Quicksand is too dirty !

?There are many different kinds of animals in the zoo. They don’t have to look for food by themselves. We can see the zoo keepers give them food to eat. They just eat, walk and sleep all day, so many of us may think that the animals there are happy and lucky. But most of them are sad. Why ? Because they’re not free!
? Some animals like elephants, monkeys and tigers usually live freely and happily in the forests or in the mountains . Tigers, for example, run, jump, play with their children and catch small animals for food. But now they gave to stay in small rooms in the zoo. The life in the zoo is different from the life in the forests.
