tomorrow 源自古英語 to morgen 。 to 意為 at,morgen 意為 morn 或 morning 。按字面意義，兩詞合在一起就是 at the next moring 的意思。嗣后， morgen 逐漸演變?yōu)?morrow ，最后 to 與 morrow 復(fù)合成 tomorrow 。 today 一詞的情況也大致相同，古英語原作 to daeg 'on ( this ) day' , 以后漸漸演變復(fù)合為 today 這一形式。

單詞用法
today用作不可數(shù)名詞時(shí)，意思是“今天”，只指白天，不指黑夜。一般用作主語，用作定語時(shí)多用其所有格。today還可作“現(xiàn)在，當(dāng)代”解。
today等于on this day，故其前不可再加介詞on。再如不能說in last year/in yesterday
注意做副詞狀語時(shí)前面不能加介詞（因?yàn)榻樵~后需加名詞）；如不能寫成in today（yesterday/tomorrow等同理）
